Supreme Court declines to hear cases over legal doctrine shielding police from lawsuits

The Supreme Court said on Monday that it will not hear cases it was considering which asked the court to revisit the doctrine of qualified immunity, which shields public officials, including police, from lawsuits for conduct that does not involve a "clearly established" violation of the law.
